Reliving the Roaring 20’s - Tokyo Cotton Club

Downtown Tokyo is cosmopolitan grand ala NY Times Square!  Bright lights and beautiful architecture with wide boulevards, chic restaurants with from all over the world and live music venues that are elegant and personal.  One of note harks back to that grand Harlem nightclub from the “Roaring 1920’s called the “Cotton Club”.  Tonight, I was lucky enough to hear a Brazilian icon, singer and classical guitar player Joyce Moreno, up front and personal while dining on fine cuisine. The Cotton Club is only 10 minute walk from Tokyo Station. Joyce Moreno has played there annually for many years. Seating is open which allows one to meet others - so cool and so needed in the U.S. to break out of our shells. It was neat to see the all Japanese audience swaying to the sounds of Moreno’s Latino beat. I was swaying too, transporting us back to a delightful time of eloquence and class. I will be back at every opportunity.
