Fort Worth, Texas - A Blue Zone Haven

"There's no place like home"  Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz"

Six years of traveling to Europe and Asia 200+ days per year were remarkable for the richness and diversity of experiences in every aspect of life.  Now totally free of company obligations, what does my next great adventures await?  The answer of course is all continents!  But a wonderful epiphany (for me) is that when I am not traveling, some of the wonderful lifestyle aspects of Europe and Japan can be experienced literally in my back yard!   The view from my back porch looks out at the Trinity river (just a 100 feet away) teeming with wildlife giving the illusion I'm in a nature park. The trail along the river allows me to perform or commute to most daily activities via my bike or walking including eclectic outdoor restaurants, shopping, tennis lessons, fitness center, parks, theatre, concerts, yoga, picnics, & meditation. Similar to what I experienced in Italia!

Fort Worth was designated a Blue Zone community in 2018 and is the largest city in the U.S. to have this designation.  What does that mean?  The opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, eat healthfully, live simply, and still enjoy big city life attractions.

Even the center of Ft Worth is just a 45 minutes away by bike via the Trinity trail with restaurants and music venues overlooking the river along the way.  A night ride on the trail coming back from an event is a chance to gaze at the stars and planets with the occasional interlude by waterfowl or coyotes.

And the seasons bring beautiful changes to my porch view each day.

The end result makes the "homestead" a bucolic oasis to commune with nature, friends with activities galore to choose from.  A mixture of sorts between Arona, Italy and Nagoya, Japan with four seasons sans mountains (it's still flat here!)

Another thought.  I live in a small apartment, not unlike Italy or Japan digs.  But it together with a minimalist gives one back the most precious thing of all...TIME!  Not to mention a very nice secondary perk... more money to experience life more fully - both around the home front and the globe.  Good for me and good for the planet!
Beavers Bend, OK and awesome fishing
