Glaciers and Yoga- Bettmeralp Round 2

Image
A three day weekend afforded me the opportunity to return to Bettmeralp Switzerland, and this time experience trekking over the Alps and down to the Aletsch glacier. It a word WOW! But this Italian phrase says it better. “Non ci sono parole per descrivere questa esperienza.” But I will try.  My challenging treks were punctuated with wonderful yoga and meditation sessions. The glacier is 14 miles long and over a 1/2 mile wide. The crevices are huge and are only traversed with ropes and crampons. Blow up the pictures  down by the glacier and find the people. It will give a little perspective. The glacier's grandeur can only be fully appreciated in person.   Beyond the glacier, the silence and solitude are so cathartic. Winston Churchill thought so as well. My picture  link has a foto of his cabin overlooking the glacier. Still my experience wasn’t all bliss.  I must admit the 2nd day was not only arduous, but challenged me to overcome a primal fear. I had chosen to take the

Name that Tune - Rocking from Japan to Italy

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a multi dimensional universe. One day after listening to Latin bosa nova music in Tokyo, I find myself transported to a unique music event in Italia listening to American pop songs sung by an Italian group floating on Lago Maggiore! I'm not hallucinating. 3 of the songs in this link are famous Americana song's. Can you name them? For the Grand Prize name the famosa Italian pop song  .🎶🏆🤔. Reliving the Roaring 20’s - Tokyo Cotton Club

Image
Downtown Tokyo is cosmopolitan grand ala NY Times Square!  Bright lights and beautiful architecture with wide boulevards, chic restaurants with from all over the world and live music venues that are elegant and personal.  One of note harks back to that grand Harlem nightclub from the “Roaring 1920’s called the “Cotton Club”.  Tonight, I was lucky enough to hear a Brazilian icon, singer and classical guitar player Joyce Moreno,  up front and personal while dining on fine cuisine. The Cotton Club is only 10 minute walk from Tokyo Station. Joyce Moreno has played there annually for many years. Seating is open which allows one to meet others - so cool and so needed in the U.S. to break out of our shells. It was neat to see the all Japanese audience swaying to the sounds of Moreno’s Latino beat. I was swaying too, transporting us back to a delightful time of eloquence and class. I will be back at every opportunity. More Photos
